Staff Physicist
Support Laurelin's physics leadership as an independent check: verify the models, the analysis, and the published claims before they carry the company's name.

Build the first machine with us.
Laurelin is building a pulsed field-reversed-configuration machine with direct electromagnetic recovery. The reactor architecture, the gates, and the build program are authored by the founder. The staff physicist supports that leadership and checks it: independently reworking the derivations, reproducing the analysis, and confirming that every published claim survives a second pair of expert eyes.
The work spans the program's core physics: magnetohydrodynamic stability, turbulence, and the pulsed-power systems that drive the machine. You would sit with the team in San Francisco, assisting the founder and executive team on the physics they direct.
What you would own
- Independently verify the program's models and derivations before they enter a brief or the published record.
- Reproduce shot-data analysis from the raw traces and flag any divergence from the reported result.
- Assist the founder and executive team with the physics groundwork behind reviews and technical decisions.
What we are looking for
- BA or BS in physics or applied physics from a leading program; a PhD is preferred.
- Research or working experience in MHD, gyrokinetic turbulence, and pulsed-power systems.
- The ability to explain a hard result to a non-specialist without losing the physics.
Especially useful
- Hands-on time on a pulsed-power or magnetic-confinement experiment.
- A publication record you would put in front of a skeptical reviewer.
